Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia have been in a dispute over the right to use the name Macedonia ever since the former Yugoslav’s republic’s declaration of independence in 1991. It was only apt, therefore, that the Macedonia Youth Educational Forum (YEF), Debating Society of Greece (DSG) and IDEA UK called their cooperation event “Tournament without a name”.

The Lithuanian organisation Educational Debate Centre (EDC) organised the national debate championship for high school students in the Santoros School in Vilnius on the 18th of October 2013. The tournament focused on youth unemployment in Europe and EU expansion policies.

Open Communication Serbia organised the Decemberac tournament for freshers from high school and university debating on the 21st and 22nd of December 2013. A total of 56 debaters participated and 21 experienced judges from the Open Communication's university network provided feedback and a great learning opportunitiy to the new debaters that had started at the beginning of the academic year.

January 13, 2014

The Association for for Creative Communication and Debate (ACCD) in Serbia organised a two-day tournament for elementary and secondary school students in Belgrade on the 30th of November and 1st of December 2013.  The students debated on the affirmative and opposing sides of the motion that "the state should keep young people in the country." Between each round, the teachers participated in workshops.

The Czech ADK organised a very special Christmas tournament in Vysoké Mýto for its high school Debate League participants. Unlike ADK‘s usual tournaments, which have separate English and Czech branches, this tournament provided all forty participants a chance to practice their debating in English from Friday the 13th until Sunday the 15th of December.

The Latvian Debate Center (DC)  organised two tournaments for high school students at Daugavpils Valsts ģimnāzija in the framework of the idebateEU project about European cooperation. The first was held for 27 students on November 7, the second for 33 students on November 21.

The ADK hosted the largest annual tournament with the national Czech and English debate tournament „Memorable Nymburk“ from the 22nd until the 24th of November. The tournament in Nymburk had 150 participants from high schools all across the Czech Republic with 37 teams participating. 

December 11, 2013

The Czech Debate Association ADK organised the Open Gate Open and Debate Training in Babice over the weekend of September 20 to 22. The debate training was open to high school students from all over the Czech Republic..A total of 46 students participated in the event in the Open Gate Open Boarding School. The participants took part in one of two tracks: one for more experienced debaters focused on the Karl Popper Debate format and one for beginners who combined training with trial debates.
