On International Women’s Day we should be celebrating women of the past and considering what next? With iDebate’s public debate ‘Should the airbrushing of women’s bodies in the media be banned?’ we took the latter course with a debate about fashion, the media, and the industries that encourage women, particularly young women, to believe they should strive to be prefect.

How can you save money when you have no money to spend? How can you pay your education? Who should you talk to about financial problems, or when looking for a job? And what can be done against bullying of kids for their poverty? These were the questions young people and their parents debated in public on Friday February 27 during the Money Week in The Hague.The Leergeld Den Haag foundation and IDEA provided debate training and a public debate for youth between 7 and 14 and their parents on the topic of money and the lack thereof.

The Hague University of Applied Sciences. January 20. Class ESe4-I. A group of enthusiastic European Studies students discussed the use of media and its influence in and on politics, business and culture around IDEA’s Debate Tree. Naturally, the events surrounding Charlie Hebdo had a great influence on the discussion, which is why the group settled on the motion: “Freedom of expression breaks the law.”The young people presented their opinions in short statements on the debate tree and explained their statements to the rest of the group.

How should we tackle financial debts of young people? How can we prevent them from getting into debt in the first place? And why is it so difficult to talk about this topic? The latter actually appeared no problem at all for the 57 young people participating in the Mind your Wallet weekend from May 30 to June 1. They debated all weekend about financial issues and debt problems.
