Motion:

THBT CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF A PEACEFUL SOCIETY.

We are running about an hour behind schedule which isn't too bad given that we moved the briefings to today.

As I sit here we are waiting for the computer with the tab to arrive. I went with the debaters on the monorail this morning and the computer went in a car. Unlike yesterday when the roadblocks were outside the city and therefore the city was very quite today there are checkpoints inside the city so while traffic is moving it is very slow.

We have only 2 debates to complete before 5:30 so we are planning to get them done as quickly as possible and then people can go shopping. The break night starts at 10pm tonight.

As I type this Round 1 debates of the 2007 CIMB WUPID are underway.

As with most tournaments we had a couple of "slight delays". Problems in Bangkok Airport and delays in the arrival of some Malaysian Teams meant that we decided to postpone the Debaters and adjudicators briefing from yesterday to today. We had 1.5 hours for "event briefings" this morning so we decided that this was a better use of time (and allowed us go shopping yesterday).

As you may be aware the CIMB-WUPID starts this week. I'm flying to Malaysia on Thursday so I'm trying to set up a few of the bits and pieces I'll be using to update the blog while there.

Most of my updates will be via my phone. My plan is to use wireless access in the university and hotel to post updates to the site without incurring huge roaming fees. I will e-mail in regular updates which will go directly onto the site.

Contribute to PEACE on Debatepedia! The Debatepedia is the International Debate Education Association's (IDEA) wiki of debate and reasoning. It is a user-generated site with over 3,000 articles from contributers around the globe. At IDEA, we've partnered with WUPID and started a "Peace Tournament" category on Debatepedia so that the discussion of peace, tolerance and understanding can continue longer after you've left the tournament.
