The Dean Swift IV will take place on Friday the 23rd and Saturday the 24th of January, and the Kingsmill-Moore Invitational will take place on Thursday the 22nd of January in Trinity College, Dublin. Ireland's two oldest debating societies will continue to offer the highest level of adjudication at any Irish competition, along with the unique oratorical atmosphere and excitement that has made the knockout rounds of the competition, and especially the Grand Final in the Chamber, legendary.

The final of the 2008 Irish Mace will be held on Monday 31st March 7pm, hosted by the College Historical Society, Trinity College Dublin.

Ireland: Niamh Ni Mhaoileoin (TCD Hist) won the 2008 Irish National Maidens competition held in University of Limerick over the weekend. Catherine Murphy (also from TCD hist) was runner up.

Malaysia: MMU1 the Malaysian 2008 national novice tournament held in UT Mara over the weekend. MMU3 were runner up.

The UCC team of Tony Murphy and Paul Flynn won the 2008 University of Limerick Open at the weekend. In the final they defeated TCD Historical A (Anne Byrne & Niall Sherry) and two hybrid teams of G. Rhydian Morgan & Sean Q and Derek Doyle and Dan Collwy.

Best Speaker on the tab was Sayeqa Islam (Victoria Wellington) and best speaker in the final was Anne Byrne (TCD Hist)
