The two-week long International Media Camp "Youth as the basis of democratic future” has started in Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan).

Participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have been attending the camp.

Nowadays media – whether it is journalism, documentary photography or social media - plays an important role in shaping people’s consciousness around the world. Due to the media, we may emphasize one social or political issue at the expense of ignoring others.

For socially active young people media-skills can be a good tool for future positive changes, both in their own country, and in the region as a whole.

The participants get a grounding in the theoretical knowledge of civic journalism, reportage photography, and debate techniques. Beside media and debate the program includes training in advocacy.

At the end of the workshop the participants will prepare their own professional media-projects.

The media camp is the part of the long-term "Youth as the basis of democratic future” programme.

This workshop is organized by International Debate Education Association in Central Asia (IDEA-CA).
