Media Camp that united youth of Central Asia was launched in Kyrgyzstan

On October 2nd, 2017, was launched a two-week Central Asian media camp "Promotion of media literacy and journalistic ethics among the youth of Central Asia" on the shore of Lake Issyk-Kul (Kyrgyzstan).

In the event take part 30 delegates from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. They will gain knowledge in media literacy, development of critical thinking and debate skills.

Today media such as print, online, photojournalism and social media - are a full-fledged branch of power and play an important role in shaping the consciousness of people around the world. Using the media it's possible to emphasize some socio-political issues and ignore others. The media is a powerful tool for creating social change and civic initiatives.

During the media camp students will receive theoretical knowledge in the field of civil journalism (writing texts, video reports, photo reports, journalistic ethics); debatable technologies; facilitation of trainings and public events, as well as learn how to apply them in practice during preparation of their own professional media projects and conducting debates on the most relevant topics.

During the media camp invited speakers will share their experience and talk about their work in journalism. As the result of the media camp will be social journalistic projects created and realized in the international team by young people, as a synergy of such areas as debates, multimedia and journalism.

This camp is a part of a long-term program "Promoting media literacy and journalistic ethics among the youth of Central Asia", which in addition to the media camp, includes organization of iTalk, as well as the preparation of news stories. Organizer of the media camp is IDEA CA with the financial support of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
