Central Asia: Third season of "Debates of the Open Society" launches on first national TV Channel 

The third season of the Russian-language TV show started on December 2014 and was aired on Saturdays in prime time. The TV program aims not only to popularize debate and to involve young audiences in policy discussions on relevant societal issues, but also seeks to alter the mainstream portrayal of young people incapable of engaging in profound discussions on significant issues. The 4th IDEA Aitmatov International Debate Academy took place on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake, Kyrgyzstan from 20 to 27 September 2014. About hundred participants selected from 8 countries: Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan were students of the Academy this year.
 
The main purpose of the Aitmatov International Debate Academy is to provide participants with the skills to express their ideas confidently, to think critically, to check information, to argue and defend their civil position, to promote the initiatives of their organization and to bring together a bigger audience to solve real-life problems.

The TV program fully devoted to Aitmatov IDA  was on air on the 1st Kyrgyz channel - one of the most popular in Kyrgyzstan.
