(The Blue Marble, by Apollo 17)
Climate Change is quite possibly the biggest challenge facing the world today. It is a global issue that requires large scale action from almost every country in the world. Moreover the actions necessary are not always easy actions to take, they will influence a country’s entire economy and potentially be very costly. But the cost of inaction is equally high if not higher.
Although there are still powerful lobbies against the idea that climate change exists, particularly in the United States and often backed by money from fossil fuel companies that there is climate change is mostly settled with 97% or more of scientists in agreement. What can be done about it however is much more disputed with nations repeatedly failing to come up with solutions that are either broadly adopted or have sufficient impact.
This group of debates will explore those possible solutions and the possible impact that climate change may have on the world.
