Should Assad be given a "safe exit" for him and his family if he steps down?

I think yes, for the sake of peace. He should indeed be assured a safe exit. Without this guarantee I doubt he will even consider stepping down. Additionally, it is imperative that he be duly tried and convicted for the Syrian Atrocities.
