Source Selection
Gather several books related to a debate topic. Not all of them have to be good ones. Distribute the books and have students evaluate the book’s usefulness for the topic by considering the following elements in order:
1. The title
2. The table of contents
3. The index
4. The preface or introduction
5. One or two passages selected at random.
Following this, then discuss which books might be best to use and why.
