London Olympics - 2012
London Olympics - 2012
In 318 days, the London Olympic Games will get underway, at enormous cost to the British taxpayer. Coming immediately after the insurmountable Beijing effort, many fear (and have feared ever since it was announced) the worst for Britain's capital city. Recent disputes over special traffic lanes for VIPs during the event have only increased local consternation at the event.
Does the Olympics mean much to you? Do you plan to attend/watch many of the events?
Would you want your city to hold the event? Would you be happy for your government to spend billions doing so?

Although it is more difficult to host and organize olympic events. But meanwhile it is an most important strategy to make money and acheive the legitimate quality in the game point of view.

I think that hosting the Olympics for any major city is critical to the growth and update of cities. Most major cities like London need to be renovated every 50 or so years. It is critical to the development and continual relevance of the city. Hosting the Olympics means that cities need to look their best, be their best, and have the capacity to host these games that bring thousands of people to the city that would not otherwise be there. Through hosting the games, London has the best excuse possible to bring life back to itself. It is rather fitting time for London to host the games, as it last hosted them in 1948, just three years after the end of World War 2 and with the global economic crisis and recess on the way out the door this Olympics like the last one could be a signal to the world to say, let’s just get on with our lives. If we managed to host the games in 1948 when vast parts of London were destroyed, we should have no issue managing it now. As for the fear over traffic, I think it is severally exaggerated. London is a massive city, and this will be personally be the second time I live near the Olympic city, the Atlanta games in 1996 were the last games I attended, and Atlanta is a much smaller city than London. If they managed fine, with limited public transport and massive intricate roads and motorways, London will cope perfectly.
