Students from Vietnam and Tajikistan win Asia Mixed Teams Tournament

Alisher Mamadazizov (Tajikistan), Phu Hoang Duong (Vietnam), and Khafiza Bonu (Tajikistan) won the 2013 IDEA Asia Mixed Teams Tournament, held during this year's Asia Youth Forum at the Kapriz Resort near Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan. They beat team Anonymous, of Jihad Akbar Hussaini (Indonesia), Saken Madi (Kazakhstan), and Carl B. Oltura (Philippines) in the final in a narrow 5-4 split decision.

Both teams Phoenix and Anonymous won their semi-finals in 4-3 split decisions against teams Random and Deliciously Vicious respectively.

The top 10 speakers of the Asia Mixed Teams Tournament were also announced. These were:

  2. Zildhjan M. Rosalina (Philippines)
  3. Carl B. Otura (Philippines)
  4. Bonu Khafiza (Tajikistan)
  5. Sotharoth Chey (Cambodia)
  6. Sothidaneath Theam (Cambodia)
  7. Aidai Beishekeeva (Kyrgyzstan)
  8. Ganjibekova Zuhro (Tajikistan)
  9. Avrangzeb Asroryan (Tajikistan)
  10. Begayim Djumanazarova (Kyrgyzstan)

Elena Tan was also the most improved speaker of the 2013 IDEA Asia Youth Forum, placing over 40 spots higher on the speaker tab than she did at the 2013 Asia Karl Popper Debate Championship at the beginning of the Forum.
