Online preparation debates for GYF participants

We're excited to announce that this year we are offering our Global Youth Forum debaters the chance to warm up and practice their skills against other participants online through our Vbatesplatform in a series of training debates that will take place on July 15-21.

The format will be based on Karl Popper and the debates will be asynchronous, giving each team the chance to see their opponent's speech and have some time to prepare themselves before uploading their response. You can see an example of a Vbate at http://vbate.idebate.org/pages/view/?id=48 and read more about the platform at http://vbate.idebate.org/pages/about

We encourage all teams, especially the ones receiving scholarships to attend the Forum, to participate in these Vbates.

All coaches whose teams will participate in these practice Vbates need to fill in the registration form at http://youthforum.idebate.org/gyf13vbates by July 11.

The team needs to be available on July 15-21 to participate in the Vbates. Our Vbates team will set up the debates and inform you of your pairings.

If you have any questions regarding the technical side of things or the scheduling of debates, please contact the team's leader Gordon Stables at stables@gmail.com.

Also, don't forget that a series of resources regarding the topic of digital freedoms and the prepared topics for the Forum are available on our special microsite at http://digitalfreedoms.idebate.org. This includes background papers on the motions, Debatabase articles, recorded talks by experts and case studies on subjects related to this year's topic.
