Manila Bid (UPD & ADMU) for UADC 2013

Dear Asian Debate Community,
The University of the Philippines Debate Society & the Ateneo Debate
Society are excited to welcome you to Philippines for UADC 2013 Manila. On
behalf of the debate societies, I'd like to extend our enthusiasm in this
endeavor. It's been 6 years since the Asians Circuit has been in Manila,
and we can't wait to have you back! Below are a few things we hope you keep
in mind while viewing the PDF we've prepared to help you better visualize
what's in store for you.

Tournament Details
The maximum registration fee is $275 (assuming $1 = P45) per participant.
There are two ways we plan to bring this down:

1. Volume. Computations for the registration fee assumed 95 teams,
however, if you help us reach our tournament cap, we can bring down rego to
as low as $230 per person! We just wanted to be honest & let you know the
worst scenario.
2. Great Marketing. As we've done in the past, the organizing committee
will be marketing to corporate sponsorships & forging partnerships with the
local government. Just to give you an idea of well we know our marketing,
in the Philippine Intercollegiate Debating Championship (PIDC) last April,
UPD was able to acquire 23 sponsors for the national tournament and we plan
to raise that number for UADC 2013.

The tournament cap is set at 115 teams. Slots will be granted through the
following process:
1. Institutions will be granted 2 slots on a first-come-first-served basis,
with further slots on wait-list
2. Priority for the remainder will be granted to institutions who have not
obtained any slots
3. Upon exhaustion, a third slot will be given to requesting institutions
based on their priority on the wait-list
4. Upon exhaustion, a further slots will be given to requesting
institutions based on their priority on the wait-list

The tab program we will be using was created by Sir Martin Cortez, a UADC
DCA back in 2008. It has been successfully used in the last 3 PIDC's and is
programmed to handle a maximum of 120 teams. We will also be incorporating
a satellite tabbing system to speed up the process. Using wi-fi, tabbing
stations positioned in each building will be able to relay ballot
information in real time.

After the tournament, we highly encourage you to stay a couple more days.
With over 7,107 islands, the Philippines is any vacationer's dream.
Whatever your pace may be, we've got something for you. If you're into
scuba diving, mountain climbing, white water rafting or relaxing on the
beach with a margarita, we've got internationally renowned destinations,
all within an hour or two from Manila, where you can do just that!

If you're staying in the capital, there are a lot of vibrant places in the
city easily accessible through the public transportation system. Come down
from your hotel, hop on a train, and you'll be there before you know it..
