Countdown to Budapest: The Global Debate and Public Policy Challenge
The Global Debate and Public Policy Challenge offers undergraduates across disciplines and continents an opportunity to explore issues of global importance from different points of view.

It's a new annual competition designed to engage undergraduates in ongoing public debate and reflection on issues affecting the global community. This year’s theme explores the relationship between security and human rights. The inaugural competition is currently underway and will culminate in a final competition next week in Budapest.

Students have participated in a variety of tasks throughout the year to hone their public policy advocacy skills and will compete in Budapest in the final stage of the competition for scholarships and stipends up to $10,000. This year's finalists represent eleven countries including China, Croatia, Estonia, Ethiopia, India, Macedonia, Mauritius, Moldova, Morocco, United Kingdom and United States.

Stay tuned as the Challenge unfolds! The Challenge is a recurring event and the 2012-2013 Challenge will begin in late summer 2012. We encourage new participation for students in the 2012-2013 Challenge! To learn more, please visit the Challenge website: http://gdppc.org/

This competition is organised by IDEA in partnership with the European Council on Foreign Relations and Central European University and made possible by the generous support from Open Society Foundations.
