UADC before.
- Wait list will include all remaining institutions who have not
obtained any slots.
- Promotion from waitlist will bump up teams with no slots.
- Upon exhaustion, teams requesting extra slots will be granted one more
slot (second team).
- Upon exhaustion, teams requesting extra slots will be granted a
further slot (third team).
- If slots are still empty, all institutions will be given opportunity
to increase team number.

accept registration fees in two parts. We will let you know of the exact
deadlines as they are fixed.

Accommodation:

The current accommodation plan is at the BRAC Centre for Development
Management which is a resort in the outskirts of Dhaka city, bordering the
idyllic Bangladeshi countryside, 15km from the airport. The Bangladesh
Monitor mentions the following about the hotel
:

The rooms are connected with cable-TV and hi-frequency internet access is
provided to every corner of the centre. The complex's own powerhouse
provides uninterrupted electricity and air condition supply. The dining
hall serves Continental, Oriental, Thai, Chinese, Indian and Bangladeshi
cuisine with 50 chefs and 120 staff providing expert service round the
clock. While you sip at your coffee at the coffee shop you can also enjoy
the spectacular view from there which is sure to hold your breath.

The complex ensures all the components and characteristics of a world
class 5 star resort. BRAC CDM is a perfect place to arrange any
international standard seminar, trade show, exhibition or an annual get
together of a corporate or development organization. A private or exclusive
excursion package is also offered to its patrons with country style
entertainment like paddle boat riding and fishing in its own lake. An open
air barbecue deck by the side of the lake is an added attraction worth
trying out. Its 3000 sq.ft. play ground with the big stage at the centre is
ideal for a concert or any sports competition. *

Food:
Experience the mouth watering dishes where the spices blend with the
cuisine art to define the heritage and authenticity of Bangladeshi food.
Deriving its origin from South Asia, it emphasizes on fish, vegetables and
lentils coupled with steamed rice. The spicy, fiery flavors in the curry
and main dishes giving way to desserts made from milk and natural
sweetening (guur) will surely redefine your taste buds!

The Bangladeshi (Bengali) cuisine incorporates the historic traditions of
Persian-Arab elements and the usage of various ingredients greatly sets it
apart from the cuisine in West Bengal in India. It also has considerable
regional variations. The fish and the rice form a promising staple dish as
the country’s farming practices evolve around fishing. These food designs
are the product of the country’s climatic, topographic and geographic
location. A saying integrated to the food culture is
"Machh-e-Bhat-e-Bangali" (Fish and rice make a Bengali).

Vegetarian dishes will be available at all venues. Beef dishes will be
marked as such. All food served will be halal.

Please find the estimated budget for the UADC and tentative schedule
attached with this post. Please direct all your queries as a response to
this post. Someone will respond to your query on time in full. We will
apprise you of developments as they come. Our bid website will be going
live very shortly.

Lastly, we hope that you will allow BRAC University to host the bright
minds of Asia and be an episode of Asia's debating history.

Thanking you,

Updates

I'm posting an update on behalf of the proposed Org Com for the BRAC University UADC 2013 bid.

Since we announced our bid, further negotiations, etc have allowed us to come up with new ways to make our bid even more attractive to the Asian debating community.

I will update those matters in this thread.

Five issues at hand:

1) The schedule: The expressed schedule of 1st - 8th May, 2013 is a very tentative and flexible one. Upon dialogue with several universities who have exams during that time, we're willing to shift the dates to any time in the month of May and early June that conveniences the majority of our participants. A exact will be set within that range of time if the bid is accepted.

2) The registration policy: We have decided to increase the number of teams early registrants are guaranteed to receive. The first 90 slots will go to institutions (2 per institution) on a first-come-first-serve basis.

3) The team cap: We are thrilled to announce that we are increasing the team cap to 100 instituitions to make for a bigger and grander UADC. We have checked with the venue and accommodations we have advertised in our bid and can manage the increased number of teams quite easily at the same place.

4) Cheap airfare to Bangladesh: We have compiled a list of the cheapest flights to Bangladesh from a variety of Asian countries on our bid website. If you have questions regarding the flights from any countries not mentioned on that list please let us know and we'll find that information for you. The Orgcom plans to negotiate with those carriers to further subsidize the airfare.

5) Also BRAC University has agreed to underwrite the amount of US $ 24,000 (BDT 2,000,000) for the tournament. Relevant documents to be uploaded on our website shortly.

All of the above is to towards a grander UADC 2013 and the best value for your participation. The PDF file for our bid presentation is on our website.

For those of you who have further questions, do not hesitate to contact us through Facebook (www.facebook.com/groups/brac.uadc), the debateasia thread or through our website (www.asrro.org/uadc13/).

Cheers! :)
