ARGO Open 2015
Submitted by Anne Valkering on 21 April 2015
The Romanian Association for Thinking and Oratory (ARGO) invites you to its annual Worlds Schools tournament in Ploiești for five days of high quality debating and great fun!
The event will take place between the 4th and the 8th of September in Ploiești, Romania. Previous events have gathered participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Qatar, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK and the USA, and we hope to see many of these countries represented again.
Chief adjudicator will be Branislav Fečko-Čegiň, assisted by Scott Ralston, Kaspar Kelder, Carmen Belafi and Şerban Pitic. We will have six preliminary rounds. We will have both prepared and impromptu motions for the debate rounds. After the preliminary rounds, the best teams will compete in the Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and the Grand Final of the tournament.
Teams of three to five debaters can participate in the competition. All delegations have to be accompanied by at least one judge. Delegations of two teams or more are subjected to the n-1 rule for judges - i.e. a delegation of n teams should have n-1 judges. All delegations have to be accompanied by at least one person who is over 18. Registration fees vary between 75 and 160 Euros depending on the accomodation option chosen.
