Second DiN public debate at City and Islington College
Published:31 December 2012 Duration: 6m:32s
This YouTube playlist contains all of the panel speeches given during the second major public event to be held at City and Islington Sixth form College, a debate on the motion "This House believes that the United Kingdom should leave the European Union". Each speech will automatically follow on from the previous one.
Two guest speakers featured in this debate. Each Speaker gave a five minute introduction to the major themes of the debate and the caseline that their side of the house would be following. Each speech made after the guest's speeches followed the rules of the British Parliamentary debating format.
The proposition side guest speaker was Brian Denny, a member of the Rail Maritime and Transport Workers Union, and a campaigner for the People's Pledge, an organisation that advocates holding a referendum on the UK's membership of the European Unnion.
The opposition side guest speaker was Manos Moschopoulos, current president of the University of London Union debating society and a finalist and best speaker at the 2010 World Universities Debating Championships.
The proposition and opposition side panels were made up of members of City and Islington College's Talking Politics DiN Debate Club.
