Have something to get off your chest? Want to practice public speaking? Want to connect to people of all ages and discuss the issues that matter to you? Join us for a FREE monthly open mic/debate event. Anyone can speak for up to 5 minutes, but no one is pressured to speak.

This month's opener: Holly Ojalvo

Here's how it works:
The evening kicks off with a 10- to 15-minute speech made by the “Opener” that recaps the most important topics that have occurred since the previous meeting and outlines potential topics for debate. Next, everyone in the audience is invited to make 5-minute speeches that either respond to these topics or bring new topics to the debate. It's steeped in quirky tradition and is a great opportunity to get out from behind your comptuer and have your opinions challenged in an open forum.

What is Cogers?:
Founded in the City of London in 1755, the Cogers can claim to be the oldest “free speech” forum in the world. IDEA brings this tradition to NYC with the introduction of the Big Apple Cogers, which meets the first Wednesday of each month.

Bring your business card. You could win a free bar tab!

Brought to you by The International Debate Education Association (www.idebate.org) in affiliation with the Society of Cogers (www.cogers.org).
