whether London Olympics going to bring up sea-change in the poverty striken areas or just going to make the gap more prominent
whether London Olympics going to bring up sea-change in the poverty striken areas or just going to make the gap more prominent
as we all know that London is the capital city of UK so the inflow of different people from different part of the world is obvious. But the diversity out here is quite huge. One can see that Indians,French people(200 in number),canadians and many more people make up one-third of London's population. And there are many factors due to which one could see a typical trend in the poor and the rich peoples existence in London.
Coming to the main question that does the Olympics really gonna bring up some results or the people of London will continue sticking hopes as they are been doing since a century?

actually this publicity has made up the changes that in a good way and in a bad way too. In regard to economy and other things yes you must be right that its just going to bring some real estate investments and a little bit of employment generation which is gonna be at a larger scale compared to the ones proping up at times. Even the 1948 Olympics brought up some changes but it calmed down as time passed. So this time i would change the question a bit that will this time changes be prominent or its least anticipated?

I presume you mean 200,000 or 200k French!
I think in the long term the Olympics will make no difference to the UK and probably not to London either. While it is great to regenerate an area of the city it is not like this could not have happened without the Olympics (and for much less cost) and indeed numerous areas such as the docklands have already been regenerated.
The games might generate some goodwill for a time and pull in some extra tourists but again London is not in desperate need of the publicity as it is already one of the most visited cities in the world.
