Struggle for Water, The

The Struggle for Water brings together a wide variety of materials on the issues and controversies surrounding the complex subject of water ownership and freshwater privatization. It presents a general overview of the state of the world’s fresh water and offers articles on both sides of the privatization controversy. Sections also deal with cooperation and conflict over water resources, international trade in water, and the growing struggle between farms and cities over this scarce resource. The anthology concludes with an appendix of primary source documents from a diversity of sources representing all major viewpoints on the issue.

A general introduction and introductory essays to each chapter give the reader the necessary background to put the issue in perspective.

Aaron Fishbone is a graduate of the University of Vermont and the University of Washington. He is an accredited International Debate Trainer who has taught in the United States and eight foreign countries. He served on the curriculum committee of the 2006 Youth Forum and the 2006 District of Columbia Urban Debate League Debate Institute. He currently works for the Seattle Mayor's Office.
