Inclusion for All: The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Inclusion for All: The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities unites a wide variety of perspectives on the issues and controversies surrounding the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of society. It provides the reader with an understanding of the historical perspective on human rights; the critical nature of inclusion; the Convention provisions; the necessity of honoring family culture and values; and the need for reducing poverty and social exclusion, guaranteeing deinstitutionalization and ensuring the provision of education, independent living, employment, and self-determination.

Deborah A. Ziegler is the associate executive director for policy and advocacy at the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), one of the world’s premiere education organizations. Dr. Ziegler serves on the board of and works with several international disability organizations, including CEC, whose focus is the implementation of the UN Convention on the Right of Persons with Disabilities.
